Weather, A Box

In thinking about ordinary perceptual experiences, such as observing the tide, there seems to be a special moment: the present. At this moment, the latest tide is occurring, and new tides continuously emerge. Previous tides fade into an increasingly distant past. We perceive things in the present; past events seem to have disappeared, and future events seem not yet real.

Weather, A Box explores the relationship between archives and time, as well as how archives undergo different translations depending on the space and people involved. In this way, an archive acts as a record or witness to a specific time and place, yet it also moves through the world like a “living entity,” similar to the overlapping and repetitive motion of the ocean or the layers of paper. This work was recorded on the coast of Oslo, Norway and exhibited in an Q Gallery in Copenhagen, Denmark.
