Reel 01: The Absence of Windscape

The Absence of Windscape explores the interaction between blank images and non-fictional narratives. The work originates from reflections on distant landscapes and a childhood memory of sitting on the back of my mother’s motorbike, surrounded by the sound of the monsoon and fleeting sceneries. These windscapes, once vivid, now exist only in memory, yet their absence holds a presence that invites interpretation.

At the center of the installation are blank slides projected into the space, functioning as both interruptions of vision and openings for imaginative engagement. The interplay between these blank images and narratives about unseen landscapes creates a transitional space where viewers can bring their own experiences into the work. The blank projections emphasize the act of perception itself, revealing how images are shaped not just by what is present, but also by what is absent.

The Absence of Windscape transforms personal memory into a shared, interpretive experience. In this work, the boundaries between windscape and memory blur, allowing viewers to inhabit the space left by the image and engage with its resonance in their own terms.
